ENTERING THE HEART OF JUDAISM

"Entering the Heart of Judaism" is HaMakom's in-depth course of study for those looking to open their hearts, awaken their minds, and deepen their tradition in relationship to passionate and progressive Judaism.

The course offers Jewish history, ritual study, and Hebrew reading lessons, and is taught by rabbinical student Yafa Chase. The class meets once a week for approximately 12 months. Classes are in the early evening, and are in 2 hour segments.

The course culminates in a ritual mikvah retreat weekend followed by a B'nai Mitzvah ceremony, where class members are called to the Torah in a special service, followed by a celebratory luncheon.

For some, "Entering the Heart of Judaism"  represents a deferred moment longed for since the age of thirteen. For others, it is a return to the tradition into which they were born and are now returning. And for yet others, it is the beginning of a long  and fruitful journey enjoined with the Jewish people.

At HaMakom we find that many people are looking for a deeper relationship to Judaism; either as returning Jews or those who desire to become Jews by choice.  This class addresses both longings.
