TORAH and TALMUD STUDY

Ever wanted to study Torah in-depth or the Talmud but thought it might be too complex or take a long time? Not here at HaMakom! The classes are conducted in English and you can join at any time. Study material can be downloaded below.

TORAH STUDY CLASS with Rabbi Jack

Saturdays  8:45-9:45 AM (before Shabbat services at HaMakom).

From January through March 17th, Rabbi Jack (or Vicki in Rabbi Jack's absence) will present commentary by Rashi on the current parsha for discussion.

No prior skills are needed. There may be scanned pages to download, but in some weeks we may just work together and read the text in class.

WEEKDAY TALMUD STUDY CLASS
with Reb Leib (Len Goodman)
Thursdays. 8-9:30 AM
(NO CLASS on March 1, 8, or 15th.)
NMNM Office
Iron Stone Garden
901 W. San Mateo Unit B (first building on the left, 2nd door)

Reb Leib (Len Goodman) leads an on-going Talmud class that started during Elul. The class currently uses text from the Talmud that deals with T'shuvah (repentance). The focus of the class is to come to a better understanding of the Torah's concept of Re-Turning (Repentance) while developing learning tools for Talmud study. This will be hands-on text work with discussion. No prior skills are needed.

Reb Len has photo-copied the current pages for studying.

For more info about the Shabbat or Weekday Talmud study groups, contact Hazzan Cindy Freedman at: freeart611@yahoo.com.

 Rabbi Jack Shlachter

"Rabbi Jack" is the rabbi for the Los Alamos Jewish Center as well as a member of the HaMakom community. He is a passionate admirer of the rabbinic literature, which is reflected in his extensive library of rabbinic texts. As a physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Rabbi Jack brings a cutting-edge mind to the study of the Talmud.

Reb Leib (Len Goodman)

Reb Leib began studying Talmud in 1987 with Rabbi Benyomin Friedman (then of Yeshivat Ner Israel) who came to Santa Fe for the summer to teach a daily Talmud study group. Since then, he has continued his studies at numerous Yeshivot (including Ner Israel, Toras Chaim, Lakewood, Aish HaTorah, Mir and Web Yeshiva) as well with many individual Rabbonim whenever available. For the past 18 years, Reb Leib has learned Talmud 2 to 4 times a week with his dear Chavruta, David Pollak here in Santa Fe and is now also Rosh Chaburah for a small weekly group of dedicated Talmud Learners — mostly members HaMakom.
