OUR MISSION

Open your heart, awaken your mind, and deepen your tradition at HaMakom, the place for passionate and progressive Judaism. HaMakom means The Place, and is one of God's names. We are guided by loving-kindness, Jewish principles and inclusion. Our services reflect a renewal of traditional practices that weave prayer, learning, and music into a meaningful expression of Judaism.

LEADERSHIP

Rabbi Malka Drucker offers thoughtful modern interpretations and stimulating insights as she guides us towards our personal spiritual goals. Hazzan Cindy Freedman's boundless energy and vocal talent is a shining example of dedication, as she infuses our weekly Shabbat services with ruach. Rabbi Jack Shlachter helps us connect more deeply with our tradition through his leadership and through classes on the Talmud and other subjects.

HAMAKOM JEWISH ARTS AND EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Jewish Arts and Education program is the umbrella for HaMakom's lectures, films, discussion groups and Judaic studies. Our monthly Continuing Education lecture series, which is entering its seventh year, features local and national authors, scholars, and Rabbis speaking on a relevant topics. HaMakom's Jewish Film Festival, which is in its second season, brings to Santa Fe award-winning movies that are playing or have recently played major Jewish and international film festivals worldwide. Each film is accompanied by a program such as interviews with film makers, post film discussions and speakers. Interested in exploring Jewish-themed literature? Join our Book Club. Or join us Shabbat mornings before services at 8:45 AM for Talmud Study, you don't have to be a Talmud scholar to participate. If you would like to become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah as an adult, are considering conversion to Judaism, or would just like to deepen your understanding of Judaism, our Entering the Heart of Judaism program has been designed to meet these objectives.
