Community Outreach
Leaders and members of the HaMakom community are actively involved in the community in many ways. Officially, HaMakom supports several activities.

Ongoing Projects
Chevra Kadisha
Members of HaMakom serve with the Chevra Kadisha of Northern New Mexico by helping to perform a Taharah (preparing the body, in a sacred manner, for burial) and by being a shomer ("guarding" the body by praying and reading Psalms during its time in the funeral home). To volunteer for (or to get information about) burial/death services, contact info@cknnm.org.

Hineni
Hineni, “Here I am,” is our community outreach program that allows us to serve people in need of help within the community. For example, providing assistance during a financial or health crisis: transportation, prescriptions picked up, or a ride to the doctor. Hineni exists to assist with these needs.

For more information about Hineni, to volunteer, or to request assistance, please contact Ellie at edelsteine@cybermesa.com. We can match up your offering of service with a community need.

Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival
The Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival was originally sponsored by HaMakom as the HaMakom Jewish Film Festival. It brings to Santa Fe award-winning films that inform viewers about Jewish culture, arts, history or religion, or tell the story of a notable Jewish individual. Each film is followed by a discussion, speaker, or interview. Some members of the HaMakom community continue to participate in organizing the film series. For information about the current season, visit the Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival website.

Annual Project: High Holiday Food Drive
Every year during the High Holidays HaMakom conducts its Annual Food Drive. As in the past, we are donating to The Food Depot, which is Northern New Mexico’s Food Bank. Bring non-perishable food or canned items to Yom Kippur.
